What to Expect
Food Walks of Texas offers visitors as well as natives a unique and tasty way to explore downtown McKinney.
Our 3-hour brunch tour includes 4 tasting stops to enjoy delectable Texas-modern brunch foods and cocktails. In between these tasting stops, we leisurely stroll around McKinney Square and visit 7 diverse locally owned shops and eateries. A special treat has been selected by each store owner just for our tour guests, which you can pop into your Food Walks of Texas treat bag or munch on along the way.
Enjoy learning about each store owner’s vision and their specialty food item; it’s highly likely we’ll meet many owners as most have a warm, hands-on business approach. McKinney Square’s rich architecture, historic landmarks, and whimsical murals are the backdrop for our walking tour, which is led by a knowledgeable and enthusiastic local guide. Wear comfy shoes, bring your appetite and a camera, and be prepared to have a memorable day! Plenty of food is served so for most guests, you won’t be hungry again for a while.
Look for your tour guide in front of The Pub.

The Pub McKinney
We’ll kick off the tour at the Pub, a long-time McKinney watering hole, and then we’ll knock your socks off with a chicken and red velvet waffle combo as we hand you a mimosa!
The Donut Kitchen
Your taste buds will thank you after you devour one of the Donut Kitchen’s gourmet donuts, like Texas Sheet Cake, Blueberry Key Lime, Nutella Crunch, or Fruity Pebbles!
Sugarbacon Proper Kitchen
You can’t stop at Sugarbacon without having the namesake Sugarbacon, so we won’t! Add to that an amazing craft cocktail and you’ll wonder what took you so long to get here.
Rye
You’ll be mesmerized by the brunch tasting at Rye, a seasonal creative American small plate restaurant with hand-crafted food. Their cuisine is uncommon and so memorable!
The Celt Irish Pub
The Celt’s motto is “There are no strangers here; only friends you haven’t yet met!” You’ll be satiated by some traditional fare and The Celt’s sublime secret recipe Bloody Mary.
Surprise Treat Stops
In between our tasting stops, we visit 7 unique eateries and culinary shops where the owners have selected a special gift treat just for our guests! #eatsandtreats

Our tours include ample tastings from 5 – 6 (or more) local eateries — depending on the tour — and collectively provide enough food for a satisfying lunch/brunch for most people.
We have a reputation for providing Texas-sized portions, so come hungry and leave happy!
-
Absolutely! Many of our tour guests are local yokels! While you may be familiar with the downtown Square, our walking route, and some of the tasting locations, we hope to offer up new food items and the opportunity to learn more about the establishments themselves. We’ll be sharing many interesting insights around the chefs/owners of these fine establishments and why they chose to call McKinney home. Besides, there’s always something fascinating and new to learn about McKinney’s rich history!
As a local, you’ll have the unique advantage to re-visit many of the eateries on the tour, as well as others we recommend, all at your leisure. It’s also a great opportunity to show off our lovely historic downtown Square to visiting family and friends or co-workers!

The tours are held rain or shine because the food tastes great in any weather. Texas weather is usually good year-round, but we suggest you check the weather conditions for the day of your tour and dress appropriately.
