What to Expect

Join us as we guide you through McKinney’s old fashioned Farmer’s Market at Chestnut Square, consistently ranked as one of the top farmers markets in Texas. We’ll introduce you to a variety of vendors offering local, grass fed beef and free range chicken, eggs, and farm fresh produce, as well as specialty items such as tamales, pastries, teas, wines, ginger beer, jerky and so much more.

Another unique feature of the Farmer’s Market is the wide selection of arts and crafts vendors who offer everything from locally made goat milk soap, walking sticks, jewelry, candles and more! There are food trucks and over 70 vendors – it’s a treasure hunt every week!

Along the way, our food expert will entertain and educate you with stories and insights into historic Chestnut Square Village, a collection of six historic homes, including a visit to the Oldest House in McKinney, the 1854 Greek Revival Faires residence.

You will have ample time to personally shop the Farmer’s Market and stroll through the Chestnut Square Village, while our 3-course gourmet lunch is being prepared in the 1916 Dulaney House by local Chef David Bernard of Bernard’s Gourmet Foods.  Our lunch menu will be unique on every tour as the ingredients are sourced fresh each week based on items in season and appealing to Chef David. Following the meal, we’ll have a Chef Meet ‘n Greet with cooking and recipe tips around the meal we just enjoyed.

We are culinary storytellers at Food Walks of Texas and we love sharing the story of McKinney with you. Join us as we taste, learn, shop, and explore  on this unique guided food walk through the Farmer’s Market at Chestnut Square Village, one of many of downtown McKinney’s gems!
