Your Food Walks of Texas, co-hostess, Lali, will meet you inside the Bay Willow Design store (222 E. Virginia St), a bespoke millinery in downtown McKinney.
Our fun DIY (Do It Yourself) evening will be guided by Bay Willow Design’s founder, Jenny Mathison-Foster. Located on the Historic Downtown McKinney square, Jenny is the premier milliner in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. She uses her appreciation and knowledge of design to craft hats and headpieces using classic millinery techniques and the finest materials. From fedoras to fascinators, and everything in between, Bay Willow produces hats for every season and occasion with great attention to detail.
In this two and a half hour class, guests will create a fanciful fascinator for a spring wedding, party or special event and hear about the history of fascinators. Starting with pre-made bases, guests will learn to hand-stitch ribbon or feather trims onto the bases. Finished fascinators can then be either attached to a hairband or elastic. All the festive materials needed to make one of these fun hats will be provided and you do not need prior experience or expert sewing skills.
While Jenny is guiding our work, guests will enjoy a delicious charcuterie board of meats, cheeses, and fruits, while sipping on your choice of the traditional Kentucky Derby Mint Julep or sparking wine. Chocolate truffles will also be served, and there may be a surprise treat to go home with?
Bring a girlfriend or a fellow fashionista, and enjoy a one-of-a-kind special event that you’ll surely remember long after the Mint Juleps are gone!
