What to Expect
Our fun-filled event kicks off at McKinney’s Savor Pâtisserie, a specialty French macaron store, where we begin our private baking class. We’ll be inspired by Kelli Watts, Founder of Savor, who taught herself how to bake French macarons and then went on to develop her own proprietary recipe. After sharing her macarons with friends and family, she began getting regular orders, which led to her quitting her job and creating her own company, Savor Pâtisserie. Savor’s macarons have gained rapid popularity and are now sold at Neiman Marcus and other specialty retailers in the DFW area.
You’ve never tasted anything like a macaron until you’ve bitten into one. There’s truly nothing like it. With a light crunch on the outside, followed by a soft, melt-in-your-mouth, flavor-filled interior, macarons are unexpected – in the best way. You definitely won’t forget your first macaron, and Savor’s are AMAZING!
While we are captivated by French baking tips, we’re treated to a sampling of sparkling wines provided by the McKinney Wine Merchant, a locally owned wine specialty store. We enjoy tastings of Champagne, Cava, Prosecco, and others and become wine experts in no time!
During our 2-hour class, we make and bake a batch of macarons. Each person takes home a gift box of macarons that they made, a recipe card, a souvenir potholder, and a Savor tote bag. And who knows? There may be more Valentine’s surprises included too, like chocolate sweets and treats!
After our class ends, the night is still young and you just step away from McKinney Square, so why not stroll around the corner and grab dinner with your Sweetie or wander into any of the cute shops? There’s so much to enjoy in downtown historic McKinney. Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo
